Where a process has been selected for significant improvement, it is helpful to follow a structured methodology. This is similar to the project management approaches.當一個流程需要顯著改進的時候，遵循結構化方法是很有幫助的，類似于項目管理的方法。

1) Understand the project – this includes defining the scope of the work, goals and developing a detailed plan. The plan should include time and cost estimates and who should carry out the work.理解項目：定義工作范圍，目標和開發詳細計劃（包括預計時間和成本，以及執行人）

2) Analyse the process – the team needs to establish how the process currently works by discussion with staff, thendocument it in a process diagram. This will include identifyingissues with the current process and consideringimprovements. The team will then develop a plan for the redesign of the process.分析流程：流程當前是如何運作的→流程書面化→發現當前存在的問題→確認改進方向→開發方案，重新設計

3) Redesign the process – consider a wide range of alternative proposals to improve the process and select which ones will be adopted. At the end of this phase, documentation will be produced detailing the newprocess.重新設計流程：考慮眾多方案，再從中挑選，將選定方案的新流程書面化。

4) Implement the redesigned process – create the jobdescriptions, trainstaff and set up systems needed to implement the new process. If newsoftware is required, it will be written at this stage.執行再設計流程：建立工作描述，培訓員工，建立體系。如果需要新軟件系統，也要在這一步編寫好。

5) Roll-out the redesigned process – put the new process into action. Change management techniques will be relevant here.推出重新設計的流程：貫徹執行新流程，這可能涉及到改變管理技巧。
